Much tastier than it sounds!!

I learnt a very important lesson over a single meal- Preconceived notions are often untrue!
When I found out that I was supposed to go and dine at “The Soup and Salad Cafe” on TTK Road, I was filled with horror. The name suggested healthy foods, and my experience had taught me that these were often unpalatable!
My trepidation slowly ebbed away when I encountered the cheerful atmosphere and inviting menu…With creative names, innovative fillings, brilliantly contrasting components and inviting aromas, the cafe wooed my olfactory nerves and put me at ease!

The salads had amazing dressing and very interesting combinations- channa… rajma… potato chips… mayonnaise.. vegetables… sour cream… you get the picture!

The “Zonditches” (read Sandwiches) with pita bread and luscious fillings can leave you full… but this is one place where you have to disregard your stomach’s warning and go for dessert! Thick shakes and yoghurts are surprisingly delicious here, despite being just as healthy as I was afraid they would be!

My only cause for a frown that whole evening was the fact that the menu was grossly deficient in chocolate, but the other items more than made up for this! If you make the right choices, this cafe will have you longing for more and more.
Excellent portions… a pleasing variety… attentive service with a smile… hot food… satisfied taste buds… and best of all, it’s easy on your purse! The Soup and Salad Cafe- Worth more than just one trip!

The Accord Metropolitan: A story of empty plates

I stepped out of my first Law class, my mind a haze. Faces, both known and unknown milled around me. I headed to the Accord Metropolitan three blocks away to witness my friend Anjali Chandrashekar receive the Youth Achievement award from the Rotary Club. The event took place with waiters streaming about, handing glasses of Fruit juices. Needless to say, I sampled them all. The Cranberry juice was my personal favourite. The main dinner took place after the awards ceremony was over. A plethora of dishes awaited me, the items ranging from curd rice to blueberry cheesecake. The diversity of the food betrayed one unifying factor: Everything was bloody tasty. I leave you, reader, with the product of a free dinner at the accord, images of satisfaction.
To put it simply, Empty plates!
