Chocoworld…!

Here is post by Anjali Chandrashekar (http://anjalichandrashekar.wordpress.com/ ) about an amazing shop that she came by this summer.
Ever so often we crave for something sweet. Something sinful, something that can make your sweet tooth happy. Chocolate is undoubtedly that one thing that will give you a one way ticket to heaven or hell maybe.

I decided to review Choco World. A small shop amidst the numerous ones in Jayanagar III Stage,Bangalore.
The very word got me so curious that it lured me to this extremely colourful shop of sticky fantasies.
Greeted with amiable smiles I was showed around the small shop that left me aghast. The one thing I loved about the shop was the unbelievable variety they held. Most of them imported from Germany and Belgium, many which I never dreamed of seeing in India. From Ritter sport to ferrero raffaello and lindnt to Ice breakers they have everything.

They have a range of homemade chocolates which you are allowed to sample, and you wish you could keep sampling. I personally love dark chocolates and think they have tremendous variety. Milk chocolates, dark chocolates range from 15%-43% cocoa and 45% -70% cocoa. It’s a matter of tastes they say, If you are one for the liquorish there are a whole load of them . Then there is rum and raisin.
I previously tried some innovative flavours like Gulkand truffle &pan chocolate , both of which I am not a fan of. However I liked the fig and honey and coffee cream.

There were a whole load of Lidnt, Ferrero and Hershey’s products .A giant Hershey’s special dark chocolate bar caught my gaze for a whole 10 minutes. The wrapper made me feel like it was a willi wonka bar with a golden ticket straight to heaven. Another reason choco world is a must visit is the range of customised gifts they have.Chocolate bouquets, choco music records, slabs, gift boxes, candies, mugs are among the many choices of gifts. You could even get names written on them for you near and dear ones.

To sum it up it’s all sweet things you could dream of in one small package :)

Eating a piece of history

In 1900, Milton S. Hershey developed the recipe for what would become a great American classic. He was driven by the belief that everyone should be able to enjoy the great taste of milk chocolate, a privilege at the time only enjoyed by the wealthy. So he returned to his birthplace and located his chocolate manufacturing operation in the heart of Pennsylvania's dairy country. Here he could obtain the large supplies of fresh milk needed to make pure milk chocolate. What he built turned out to be the world's largest chocolate factory.

For over 100 years, HERSHEY'S milk chocolate has been an universal favourite with a taste as rich as its history. It is this rich tradition that I sampled this morning. Following the ten step method of tasting chocolate, HERSHEY’s milk chocolate comes across as an ultra smooth and rich version of the more pedestrian Cadbury Dairy Milk Bar.

It left me licking every last bit from the wrapper. It is indeed, worthy of the man who made it.

Lindt 85%:An Experience

Ah.Lindt & Sprüngli AG.Or just Lindt. An exclusive, snooty brand. Housed in a throne (read fridge) of blue and gold all on its own, never condescending to be mixed with lesser chocolates. It is this chocolate, long suffering reader that I sample today.

Now comes the first hitch in the plan. I actually need to get the damn thing. So, I take my cycle, check for a whopping 230 buck in my wallet and head off to Nuts and Spices, Nungambakkam High Road. Sure enough, once i reach there i see the various bars of Lindt enshrined in its holy grail. After much deliberation, I tenderly pick a bar which says 85% cocoa. I fork over the dough and race home at full speed.

I tenderly unwrap the bar and begin to savour the Lindt experience, following the sacred ten step method of sampling chocolate (Google it :P). Lindt comes over as a melt in mouth aromatic chocolate that is just a shade too bitter to truly enjoy. Ah well. What can one expect of 85% cocoa. The great thing is, the chocolate feels and tastes high quality. An at the end of the day, one eats Lindt for the mental pampering that one has eaten Lindt. With that purpose served, I train my eyes on the vast realms of other food left open for me to conquer.
